ROOTED IN CARE. GROWING TOGETHER.
Our ecosystemMany branches. One purpose.
Mbewu brings healthcare, nourishment, enterprise and community development into one growing ecosystem. Each branch shares a commitment to dignity, access, integrity and community service.
Our foundation
Healthcare
Healthcare is the foundation of Mbewu. Through Kujali House in the Cape Town metropolitan area and the developing Mbewu Clinic in Dikeni (Alice), Eastern Cape, our direction is accessible, person-centred care rooted in each community.
Kujali House is our healthcare hub for both practices. Explore clinical services, meet practitioners and find appointment information there.
Food & nourishment
Amara Foods
Amara Foods represents the food and nourishment branch of the Mbewu ecosystem, reflecting the connection between what communities eat, how they live and how they thrive.
Amara Foods operates a vegetable production unit supplying three anchor clients in rural Eastern Cape. The farm uses intensive vegetable cultivation practices designed to ensure continuous supply, strong yield performance, and reliable fulfilment of client contracts.
We welcome conversations with food, agriculture and nutrition partners who share our interest in nourishment and community wellbeing.

Growing together
Community & Development
Community service is part of how we work. Our direction brings together outreach, health education, professional mentorship and partnerships that improve access to health and opportunity.
We aim to connect our ventures with the communities they serve, across generations and settings. Education, research collaboration and professional development are areas we want to grow with partners.
Two places. One commitment.
Care shaped by its community
Kujali House and Mbewu Clinic are local expressions of a shared philosophy. Each responds to a different setting, with dignity, access, trust and service at its heart.
An urban healthcare home
In the Cape Town metropolitan area, access to care can be shaped by cost, time, continuity and the challenge of navigating different services. Kujali House in Bellville brings person-centred care and multidisciplinary collaboration into this urban setting, serving individuals, families and workplaces.

Community and development
Growing with the people we serve
Community service is an operating principle for Mbewu. We want our ventures to respond to local needs and help connect people with care, knowledge and opportunity. These are areas we aim to develop through collaboration:
- Outreach and access
- Community screening, health education and partnerships that reach rural and underserved communities.
- Learning and mentorship
- Professional mentorship, public-health education and academic or research collaboration that can strengthen local capacity.
- Nourishment and wellbeing
- Connections between food, nutrition and health, developed with partners who understand the communities they serve.
- Opportunity across generations
- Services and relationships that support young people, older generations and professionals, with the aim of continuing to serve communities over time.
What we are growing next
Planting for the future
Our direction includes growing accessible primary healthcare, developing our local presence and strengthening multidisciplinary collaboration at Kujali House. Alongside healthcare, Amara Foods and Mbewu Capital advance our work in nourishment and enterprise.
We also want to build relationships around research, education and community wellbeing. These are ambitions to shape with partners and communities, with each initiative growing at a pace that allows for care, responsibility and lasting value.
